Fiji's national airline, Air Pacific, is putting on seven additional flights and increasing capacity on two other services to cope with demand in the coming peak tourist season.

Additional flights are being put on to Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane and for the first time there will be a direct flight between Canberra and Fiji.

Some services to Auckland and all to Melbourne are being upgraded to using the larger Boeing 747-400 jumbo jets.

Altogether seat capacity from New Zealand will go up by 53 per cent and from Australia by 33 per cent.

The total capacity will rise to 26,400 seats weekly or 1.37 million seats annually.
