Looging company official charged with corruption in Solomon Islands

A businessman has appeared in the Honiara Magistrate's Court in Solomon Islands charged with corruption.

Police allege Alex Wong offered a bribe to Customs officials on behalf of his company, Earth Movers, a Malaysian logging company.

Mr Wong was arrested on Friday and received bail.

Appearing before the magistrate yesterday he entered no plea and will reappear on 21 June.

Police officials sayl the alleged bribery attempt happened at the Noro port in the Western Province.
