Fiji is earning millions of dollars from the private deployment of reserve soldiers on security duties in Iraq.
The Fiji Times reports that the British company which employs them, Global Risk Strategies, has already remitted over US$4 million into the soldiers' Fiji bank accounts.
520 Fiji soldiers went to Iraq in August and September last year, but at present only 87 remain.
Global Risk is seeking to recruit another 500 for deployment in June.
The company's Fiji representative, Col Raivoce, insists the men are not mercenaries, but are helping to rebuild Iraq and are getting paid for it.
