New Zealand Parliamentary delegation visits Palau and Marshall Islands

1:09 pm on 4 June 2004

New Zealand foreign minister, Phil Goff has completed the first leg of his three stage Pacific tour.

Mr Goff held talks yesterday with leaders of Palau on an island close to the country's capital, Koror.

Our correspondent travelling with the minister's party says one of many topics Mr Goff discussed with Palau's vice-president, Sandra Pierantozzi, was the question of easier access to New Zealand for people from Palau.

The vice president asked particularly if visa restrictions could be eased to improve travel for business people and government officials from Palau.

Mr Goff will spend the next two days in the Marshall Islands.
