Solomons police arrest four in connection with murder of former police commissioner

Solomon Islands police have arrested four people over the weekend, on Malaita for harbouring fugitive Edmond Sae wanted for the murder of former police commissioner and peace councillor, Sir Fredrick Soaki.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ben McDevitt confirmed that Edmond Sae's brother Harry Sae is among the four.

Mr McDevitt said since the arrival of the Regional Assistance Mission in Solomon Islands in July 2003, negotiations have continued for the voluntary surrender of Sae.

The four men arrested at the weekend have been charged with being accessories after the fact for harbouring Sae.
