Hilda Lini to run in Vanuatu's elections

The ni-Vanuatu head of the Fiji based Pacific Concerns Resource Centre will be contesting Vanuatu's general elections on July 6th.

Hilda Lini, sister of the late Father Walter Lini who is regarded as the country's founding father, is the only woman to have been a government minister.

As a member of the National United Party Hilda Lini was elected to parliament in 1991.

She went on to become health minister.

The University of Papua New Guinea journalism graduate is a leading advocate of NGOs and has been a strong voice calling for the decolonisation of New Caledonia, Papua, Tahiti and other regions still under colonial rule.
