American Samoan Senator, Fonoti Aufata, has told the Senate Select Investigative Committee hearings into allegations of corruption involving officials, that government vehicles are being used for extra marital affairs and sexual encounters.

Senator Fonoti made the claim this morning, when Department of Public Works officials were being questioned about the management of government cars.

Committee chairman, Senator Lualemaga Faoa, tried to interrupt her remarks but Senator Fonoti said she had known about these activities for some time and wanted to address it.

Senator Lualamega said she should not make such claims unless she had some evidence or could name names.

Fonoti said she knew for a fact that such things were happening.

She said she was saddened by the way government employees were treating government cars as if they were their own..
