About 600 former Fiji soldiers and police officers have formed their own company to provide security services within the country and overseas.

Radio Fiji reports that each of the shareholders in Homeland Security Company has 1,000 one-dollar shares in the new venture.

It says 500 of the shareholders are former soldiers who have already served on private deployment in Iraq with the British company, Global Risk Strategies.

The chief executive of Homeland Securities, Josateki Labacai, says they have a working relationship with Global Risk through which they will train guards before they are sent on missions overseas.
