The new governor general of Solomon Islands is being sworn in today as the country holds celebrations to mark its 26th anniversary of independence.
The former Ulawa-Ugi MP, Nathaniel Waena, takes on the position from Sir John Ini Lapli, at a ceremony being held at the National Sports Stadium.
It will be attended by the prime minister, Sir Allan Kemakeza, the speaker, the chief justice and members of the diplomatic corps.
