No demand for China flights, says Air Pacific

Fiji's national airline, AIR PACIFIC, says it cannot justify mounting direct flights to China because there is no demand.

Fiji last month signed an air services agreement with China allowing for direct flights between the two countries.

But the Fiji Sun quotes the managing director of Air Pacific, John Campbell, as saying most visitors from China are not sun and sand tourists, and they prefer to go to Australia and New Zealand.

However, he says Air Pacific will increase the number of flights to Japan if demand goes up.
