Government officials have promised lawmakers in American Samoa that more than US$300,000 will be spent on building a new chemist's shop for the Manu'a Island group.

The Manu'a lawmaker, Fetu Fetui Junior has told the government Treasurer Francis Leasiolagi that this is the same promise made so many times whilst the only chemist in the Manu'a islands remains in deplorable conditions.

Fetui said the dispensary as worse than the hospitals in war torn countries.

He said residents of his district are been neglected and ignored by the government.

Government officials told lawmakers that a total of US$360,000 has been allocated for the pharmacy whilst extra funding has been sought to equip the centre.
