The opposition in Vanuatu says it wants to submit a motion of no confidence in the new government which was formed last week.

Serge Vohor became the prime minister on Thursday when his coalition won a majority in the 52-member parliament.

His coalition includes several ministers from the previous administration which was led by Edward Natapei of the Vanuaa'ku Party.

Mr Natapei had called last month's snap election to avoid a vote of no confidence in his coalition.

One of his Cabinet colleagues, Willie Jimmy, said at the time that the constant threats of votes of no confidence were creating instability.
