Fiji pharmacists sell drugs worldwide on the web

10:26 am on 5 August 2004

Fiji pharmacists and their agents are reported to be selling drugs overseas by internet dispensing.

The Daily Post quotes the president of the Fiji Pharmaceutical Society, Pushp Chand, as saying international buyers are taking advantage of the cheaper prices of drugs in Fiji.

Mr Chand says drugs sold in England, the United States, Canada and Australia for high prices are available in Fiji at much lower cost because it is a developing country.

One example is the cholesterol lowering drug Littor which is being sent to Canada for dispensing in North America.
