An Australian Federal Police team is due to arrive in Papua New Guinea this week to firm up the cooperation programme to deploy Australian police to PNG.

The working committee will arrive in the PNG capital Port Moresby on Friday before flying to Madang in the country's north for a series of workshops with local police officials.

The committee will also meet PNG Police Commissioner to shore up details of the enhanced cooperation program or ECP between PNG and Australia.

Under the ECP, agreed by Australian and Papua New Guinea ministers last December, about 300 Australian police and public officials will work with their PNG counterparts within the PNG policing, government and justice systems.
