A new book on the history of Indians in Fiji is calling for the British and Australian Governments, and the Australian sugar company, CSR, to apologise for crimes against humanity.
The book, Tears in Paradise, being launched on Saturday in Auckland, details the indenture system under which Indians were brought to Fiji.
Author Rajendra Prasad says it was slavery in all but name and Britain, Australia and the sugar company should apologise to the Indo-Fijian community.
"to acknowlege the exploitation of the innocent and ignorant people and I do want these three to acknowledge they did commit these crimes during the indenture period in Fiji"
