There are mixed reactions in Fiji to reports that the former prime minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, is likely to join Laisenia Qarase's ruling SDL party.
Radio Legend reports that the Nationalist Party leader, Iliesa Duvoloco, who has already served a prison sentence for his role in the Speight coup, has warned the SDL against accepting Mr Rabuka.
Mr Duvuloco says Mr Rabuka was the person who formulated the 1997 Constitution which is the root of all the political problems Fiji is currently facing.
Mr Duvuloco says Mr Rabuka betrayed the Fijian trust and is no longer a leader because he does not have any followers.
He says it would be a grave mistake for the SDL government to accept Mr Rabuka.
But the general secretary of the Conservative Alliance Matanitu Vanua party, Ratu Josefa Dimuri, says he supports Mr Rabuka's planned move because they are trying to unite all indigenous parties before the 2006 general elections.
