Solomons nearly ready for two by-elections

Preparations for two parliamentary by-elections in Solomon Islands are nearing completion.

Chief Electoral Officer, Martin Karani, says new registraions of voters has been completed with support from the Regional Assistance Mission.

The by-elections will be held in North Malaita and Ulawa-Ugi electorates at a date yet to be decided.

The North Malaita seat became vacant earlier this year following the jailing of its MP, Daniel Fa'afanua.

The Ulawa-Ugi seat became vacant after its MP, Nathaniel Waena, was elected Governor General by the National Parliament.
