Suspended Samoan health boss sues paper for defamation

The suspended Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Health, Lolofie Taulealeausumai Dr. Eti Enosa, is bringing a defamation case against the Samoa Observer company.

The paper's publisher and a reporter are named in the claim for one million US dollars.

Lolofie also seeks a Supreme Court injunction to stop the defendants from publishing further alleged defamatory material about him.

Samoa Observer Co. Ltd publishes the Samoa Observer, the Saturday Observer and the Sunday Observer newspapers.

The case relates to coverage of financial investigations at the Health Ministry.

Lolofie's lawsuit is due to go before the Supreme Court on October the 18th.
