Hearing on Bougainville plane postponed

7:13 am on 15 October 2004

The national court in Papua New Guinea has adjourned a hearing on whether to release a plane which has been impounded after an unauthorised landing on the island of Bougainville.

The Australian businessman Andrew Reid has asked the court to release his Cessna Citation.

PNG's Civil Aviation Authority impounded the plane last week after it landed without authority at the disused Aropa airport, near a rebel no-go zone controlled by the secessionist leader Francis Ona.

The National Court yesterday adjourned the hearing until next Thursday.
