The Solomon Islands cabinet minister Alfred Sasako has confirmed he's been assaulted in Honiara.
State radio reports the recently-appointed Agriculture Minister was assaulted as he was dropping off a woman by car at Kukum in Honiara.
The alleged attacker, Davis Batolo, is in police custody and faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and malicious damage to a government vehicle.
Mr Sasako has given a statement to the police, but he says it's his responsibility to solve the matter.
