A new political unit is being set up for the Solomon Islands prime minister's office.
This follows the abolition of the national policy, monitoring and evaluation unit in the PM's office by the newly-launched public service reform process.
The analysts who had been engaged to monitor and evaluate whether or not various departments have been carrying out the government's programme of action, have been redeployed to the cabinet and elsewhere.
The new unit consists mainly of political appointees who will become policy advisers.
Sir George Lepping, who is the president of the People's Alliance Party, which has been leading the national coalition government, is to head the new unit.
