The new government in French Polynesia headed by Gaston Flosse says it will not forcibly remove hunger-striking members of the ousted government.
Members of the ousted government, led by Oscar Temaru, are occupying part of the presidential palace in Papeete, in defiance of a government under Mr Flosse.
The new government's spokesman, Jean Christophe Bouissou, says they will not force Mr Temaru and his supporters out of the building:
"No, we would like them to get out because we need to work in such a way that we will be able to make in process our policy very quickly, but anyway we do not want to have arms or problems here so we are just going to leave them."
