The Head of the Participating Police Force in Solomon Islands says police are still unable to establish any concrete facts about the recent shooting of a RAMSI police vehicle in Honiara.

The shots came close to injuring a Tongan police officer.

The Head of the Participating Police Force, Sandy Peisley says their investigations are continuing.

"We have not at this time been able to establish whether that was a random shooting. We have been, as you'd be aware, calling on the community, encouraging the community, to come forward with any information they may have about the shooting."

Commissioner Peisley says their investigations into the incident has led to the seizure of a number of high powered weapons from various locations in Honiara.
