1:56 pm on 18 August 2010

The New Zealand Foreign Minister, Murray McCully, says this country's new High Commissioner to Vanuatu will be career diplomat Bill Dobbie.

He replaces Jeff Langley who's to return to Wellington.

Mr Dobbie has held previous postings in London and Apia.

Mr McCully says Vanuatu is one of New Zealand's most significant development partners with the bilateral aid programme worth nearly 14 milllion US dollars annually.

Vanuatu is also an important participant in New Zealand's Recognised Seasonal Employer scheme, with over 2500 people seeking seasonal work in this country's orchards and vineyards each year.
