The coalition government in the Cook Islands has appointed a ministry for youth and sport.
The Cook Islands Party had promised during this year's election campaign to appoint a minister responsible for youth and sport if they won power.
The Cook Islands News reports the Prime Minister Jim Marurai named Tom Marsters as head of the new ministry yesterday.
Mr Marsters has also been given the portfolios for Foreign Affairs and Transport.
