Members of the Fiji Military Forces are the first to receive their part of a nearly nine million U.S. dollar government payout to the country's disciplined services.
The payout is the outcome of a job evaluation review of the military, police and the prisons service.
The review included a pay rise for the military that was carried out today and backdated to January 1 2004.
The Public Service Commission says the government, while considering the anomalies identified in the disciplined forces, thought it best to implement the report's recommendation.
