The Governor of American Samoa has used his Christmas address to thank territorial soldiers serving in Iraq, for their bravery and services to both the territory and the world.

Togiola Tulafono said last night that in this holiday season, parts of the world are in turmoil, with their sons and daughters amongst those who are in the middle of those conflicts.

Togiola said many people in other parts of the world are in strife and in great need and he asked residents of American Samoa to pray for the soldiers who are in combat.

Togiola was speaking at the opening of the three-day government sponsored Territorial Christmas Programme where government department choirs perform songs or skits.
