Solomon Islander charged in relation to October shooting of RAMSI vehicle

In Solomon Islands, a twenty-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the October shooting of a Regional Assistance Mission police vehicle.

The accused Philip Suiga Kwaimani, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder in relation to shooting at a Participating Police Force vehicle in October, wounding a Nauruan police officer.

Kwaimani, who was described as unemployed, was arrested by the participating police force and Royal Solomon Islands Police, supported by members of the Australian Defence Force, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in court again on the twelfth of January.
