A full tropical cyclone has formed in the south western Pacific Ocean.

Forecasters in Vanuatu and Solomon Islands are closely monitoring Cyclone Kerry.

The Vanuatu meteorological service say the cyclone is expected to move southwest towards Vanuatu within the next 12 to 24 hours.

Forecasters in Solomon Islands have warned the people of Tikopia and Anuta islands in Temotu province to expect strong winds.

The Principal Meteorological Officer, Forecasting, Fredie Fera, says people there must take precautionary measures to avoid loss of life.
