Aloha Air set to end services to American Samoa

1:52 pm on 6 January 2005

Aloha Air is set to fly one last time to American Samoa - next Thursday night.

However the territorial governor, Togiola Tulafono, says he intends to follow up his discussions with the airline's vice-president this week.

The governor held meetings with Aloha officials early last month and asked the airline to examine other possibilities in marketing the Honolulu-Pago Pago route.

The governor even suggested that a change in the schedule of flights to Pago Pago could help.

The Aloha Air president, David Banmiller, announced last month that Aloha Air was ending services to American Samoa because the Honolulu- Pago Pago sector was unprofitable.

Aloha Air began flying twice weekly between Honolulu and Pago Pago in December of 2003.
