Aloha Air to pay American Samoa outstanding debts

10:25 am on 13 January 2005

Aloha Air has assured the American Samoa government that it will pay its outstanding debts.

The airline will make its last flight from Honolulu to Pago Pago tonight.

The airlines owes about US$70,000 in lease fees for its airport office, and the renting of groundhandling equipment from the government.

In December 2003, Aloha inaugurated twice-weekly service to American Samoa, but the airline says traffic loads were not adequate enough to cover its expenses.

Other discontinued Aloha flights are to the Cook Islands and the Marshalls.
