Suspended Samoan health boss reapplies for job

Samoa's Ministry of Health says its former chief executive who was suspended last year for alleged breaches of the Public Service Act is reapplying for the post.

Lolofie Taulealeausumai Dr. Eti Enosa was suspended on full pay and benefits when he faced 45 fraud charges last September.

However, Lolofie was deemed no longer liable to charges by the Public Service Commission investigators when his work contract expired at the end of last year.

A senior journalist at the Samoa Observer, Tipi Autagavaia, says Lolofie may get reinstated.

"Well the Minister of Health, Mulitalo Siafusa Vui, in the weekend, told me that six applicants have applied for the top post at the ministry of health, including Lolofie. He is reapplying."

Tipi Autagavaia says an investigation into public service corruption is continuing.

He says the Samoa police and Attorney General are now searching for a former health ministry worker from the finance section, who is believed to be in New Zealand.
