Emergency service officials from Papua New Guinea are to outline their plans for reducing the risks of disaster, to an international conference in the Japanese city of Kobe.
Delegates from PNG's disaster management centre are to present their strategy for handling manmade and natural disasters.
The centre's acting director, Martin Mose says the country leads the way for disaster management in the Pacific.
Mr Mose says they'll take note of all the ideas, strategies and agendas for their next international meeting, which PNG is set to host.
"The conference is very important. It will only set the stage for the Regional Pacific Disaster Conference which will be held in Papua New Guinea - we will be the host for that this year, and that will be in July."
