Solomon's PM assures people that only parliament can end Regional Assistance Mission

Solomon Islands Prime Minister,Sir Allan Kemakeza, has repeated assurances that only parliament can end the Regional Assistance Mission.

Sir Allan made his comments after a report by a cabinet subcommittee recommended that the mission begin scaling down this year.

There had been concern that the recommendations were motivated by politicians who feared investigations into their businesses.

But the Prime Minister says only parliament can make such changes.

"This Regional Assistance Mission are here on the act of parliament and nobody will change, not even the Cabinet can change or amend any of these provisions because its an act of parliament, only parliament can change, amend or do otherwise with this law."
