The Solomon Island prime minister, Sir Allan Kemakeza, has sacked two of his cabinet ministers.

The finance minister, Francis Zama, and the communications minister, Patterson Oti, received their termination letters late last night.

In his letter, Mr Zama says, the prime minister said his recent display of adverse action had put his political conduct and attitude as a Minister of the Crown in question.

Solomon Islands radio says the sacking is in relation to comments made by Mr Zama on the reports on the first year of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands.

Mr Zama is the third finance minster to be sacked by Sir Allan.

He will be succeeded by the national planning minister, Peter Boyers .

Two opposition politicians, Fred Fono and Simeon Bauro, are joining the government.

The cabinet reshuffle comes two days ahead of the motion of no-confidence in the Sir Allan filed by a former prime minister, Bartholomew Ulufa'alu.
