An American Samoan Senate bill which doubles the expense fund for legislators has cleared its final hurdle.

During its third reading in the House, 13 representatives voted to approve the hike while three members opposed it.

The bill raises the expense fund for senators and representatives to 30,000 US dollars and lifts that of the Senate President and Speaker to 40,000.

The governor has allocated more than half a million dollars to pay for the expense fund increase.
