A senior employee of the ANZ Bank in American Samoa has been chosen to fill a management position in the bank's Vanuatu branch.
Pati Pouesi, who is manager of electronic banking services, will take up the same position at the ANZ Bank in Port Vila.
ANZ Chief executive, Gary Ayre, said that Mr Pouesi is the first employee from American Samoa to take up a permanent position in one of their branches off island.
He said Mr Pouesi's selection is proof of the high standard of employees from American Samoa, and this is a plus for the territory.
Employees from the local ANZ have had up to three months on work attachments with bank branches overseas, but Mr Pouesi is the first local employee to take up a permanent position off island.
Mr Pouesi will leave for Vanuatu next month.
