9:17 am on 4 March 2005

A United States Coast Guard C-130 aircraft has made 12 separate airdrops of emergency supplies to residents on American Samoa's Swains Island which was hit by Cyclone Percy earlier in the week.

More supplies, including fuel, are scheduled to be shipped to the remote atoll today.

The aircraft also carried out an assessment view of the island.

The Swains Island Representative, Alexander Jennings, who was on the flight, says there was a lot of debris on the island.

He said high waves seemed to have washed all over the island, but residents were doing okay.

He said only one house was blown down by the cyclone.
