Six police in New Caledonia have been injured in a brawl with young people in suburban Noumea.
The police used teargas to break up the fight which involved about 200 youths who were said to be drunk or under the influence of marijuana.
They arrested about 20 people for throwing objects at the police and damaging police vehicles.
Three young people were injured, including one seriously after his hand was hit by a teargas canister.
