A report from Tonga says the main hospital has confirmed one patient has died from dengue fever.
The Tonga Broadcasting Corporation reports more people have tested positive and it says there are still more suspected cases.
The report quotes the Chief Medical Officer for Public Health Doctor Malakai 'Ake, as saying a woman died from haemorrhagic dengue fever last Friday at Vaiola Hospital on Tongatapu.
Doctor 'Ake said the woman had also had diabetes and high blood pressure which affected her immune system.
