Air Tahiti Nui officials are in Australia this week to promote direct flights between Australia and the French Polynesian capital, Papeete, which will begin in July.
The airline will fill a gap left in the market by Australia's Qantas airline fifteen years ago.
The vice president and minister for tourism and air transport, Jacqui Drollet, said the airline was spearheading a push by Tahiti to address a sharp trade imbalance with Australia.
Air Tahiti Nui's chief executive, Christian Vernaudon, says the airline will offer two weekly flights from Sydney to Papeete from July the 9th.
