PNG at loggerheads with Exxon over Australia pipeline

8:34 am on 1 April 2005

The Papua New Guinea Government is at loggerheads with Exxon Mobil over the development of the multi-billion dollar pipeline to Australia.

The Post Courier reports ExxonMobil and partner Oil Search Limited want to change the original gas agreement.

ExxonMobil wants to expand existing processing facilities, rather than build new ones as originally agreed to.

The Post Courier reports the PNG Government plans to delay the project, despite ExxonMobil having announced that the pipeline would proceed to the front end engineering and design phase later this year.
