Fiji chamber of commerce says economic stability "a dream" without indigenous integration

9:47 am on 5 April 2005

The president of the Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry says unless and until indigenous Fijians are integrated into the commercial life of the country, economic, social and political stability will remain a dream.

The Fiji Times quotes Taito Waradi as saying investment will decline, the brain drain will continue, and unemployment and the consequent social problem of poverty will rise.

Mr Waradi says no one wants to subject his children and business to such a harsh environment.

He says the Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry is helping in capacity building for indigenous Fijian entrepreneurs through business incubation centres and resource-based sectors of the economy.
