The district governor of the Manu'a islands in American Samoa says a recent report has estimated the damage from recent cyclones to be 2 million US dollars.

Li'a Tufele says the figure comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, who are providing disaster assistance to the islanders.

He says most FEMA claims are now in, and the rebuilding phase is expected to begin soon.

Governor Tufele says many people are still being housed in temporary shelters, but are looking forward to their houses being rebuilt.
