The Samoa Democratic United Party deputy leader Asiata Saleimoa Vaai says he will be taking legal action over his supension from the House.

The four month suspension without pay was imposed while he was away overseas attending the Inter-Parlimentary Union meeting in Manila.

The penalty was handed out to him by the House privileges and ethics committee which filed a report in the parliament's last session earlier this month.

The report is based on a letter written by Asiata to the Parliamentary Union claiming bias in parliament towards the ruling HRPP government.

The committee in its decision to suspend Asiata, deemed the content of the letter as defamatory towards the speaker, the prime minister and the Clerk of the House.

Asiata believes he is being punished because he has created concern within the HRPP ranks about the impact the letter might have on the international community.
