An eighteen-year-old American Samoan youth is suing three police officers for more than three and a half million US dollars for injuries he claims to have suffered at their hands.
Potasi Taise alleges that the three officers beat him unconscious, sending him to hospital for three days during an incident on Christmas Day last year.
His lawsuit claims that as a result of the incident, he suffered a badly fractured jaw and bruises and swelling all over his body.
Two of the officers are being sued for one point seven million dollars each and the third for 120 thousand dollars
