Samoa's cabinet has confirmed that its new visa entry regulations for American Samoans will be enforced from May 1st.
From that date, all US Nationals must obtain either a 14-day or 30-day permit to enter Samoa.
The only persons exempt will be those US nationals in transit to other destinations.
The new visas will be processed in Pago Pago at a consulate office which will be set up when the new immigration regime comes into effect.
A 14-day visa will cost 10 US dollars and a 30-day visa 20 dollars.
All applicants will be required to provide proof of return travel.
Meanwhile, Samoa citizens wanting to travel to American Samoa are no longer able to have their papers processed in Apia but must process these applications through the American Samoa attorney general's office, which has lengthened the process and was the reason for friction arising between the two Samoas.
