Solomon Islands EU ambassador set to fly to Brussels

In Solomon Islands, the senior Foreign Affairs official Joseph Ma'ahanua has been commissioned to be the country's ambassador to the European Union.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports Mr Ma'ahanua was commissioned yesterday before the acting Governor General, the Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer at Government House.

Mr Ma'ahanua says he's mindful of the level of significance of the European Union to Solomon Islands as a donor and friend.

Mr Ma'ahanua travels to Brussels on Tuesday.
