Legislature in American Samoa approves funding to consider political status

The Legislature in American Samoa has approved over four hundred thousand US dollars to fund the Future Political Study Commission and the Constitutional Convention.

The measure will this week go to the governor for approval.

The bill allocates one hundred and fifty thousand US dollars to fund the work of an eleven member commission to study alternative forms of political status.

The Commission will assess the advantage and disadvantages of different systems.
