Fiji's international telecommunications provider, FINTEL, is seeking to block a Commerce Commission order to reduce rates by 50 percent.

Fiji TV reports that FINTEL has engaged the Suva law firm of Munro, Leys to argue its legal case.

Munro, Leys has confirmed it will file an injunction in the High Court this week to stop the new reduced charges which are due to come into effect from the 1st of next month.

FINTEL is 49 percent owned by Britain's Cable and Wireless and 51 percent by Telecom Fiji.

The other telecommunications companies ordered to reduce their charges have accepted the decision and will put it into effect from next month.
